Jupiter appoints Kathryn Langridge to bolster emerging markets desk
Jupiter Asset Management is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathryn Langridge as an emerging markets fund manager.
Kathryn, who has more than 20 years’ experience as an emerging markets manager, will join Jupiter’s emerging markets desk in September. Jupiter has developed a successful franchise in this sector over several years and now has some £1.2bn* invested in products covering many of the key emerging markets in the world.
The emerging markets team manages eight mutual funds focusing on emerging Europe, Asia ex-Japan, China and India: the Jupiter Emerging European Opportunities Fund and Jupiter New Europe fund (Sicav), managed by Elena Shaftan, Ingrid Kukuljan and Colin Croft; the Jupiter China Fund and Jupiter China Sustainable Growth fund (Sicav), managed by Philip Ehrmann; the Jupiter India Fund and Jupiter India Select fund (Sicav), managed by Avinash Vazirani and; the Jupiter Asia Fund and Jupiter Asia Pacific fund (Sicav), managed by Ben Surtees.
Jupiter intends, in due course, to bolster this range by launching a global emerging markets fund for Kathryn to manage, subject to regulatory approval.
Kathryn will join Jupiter from Lloyd George Asset Management, where she has been managing long only emerging market equity investment portfolios since 2007. Before that, Kathryn worked for 17 years at Invesco Perpetual with roles including Head of Asian Investments and Head of International Equity Products. Kathryn won a number of awards during her career at Invesco Perpetual, including the Lipper Citywire Fund Manager of the Year award for the Global Growth sector in 2005. Prior to this, Kathryn spent the early years of her career with the Jardine Matheson Group in a number of roles in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and London.
John Chatfeild-Roberts, Chief Investment Officer at Jupiter Asset Management, said: “We have built substantial expertise in emerging markets over the past decade and we now have highly regarded offerings in many of the key emerging markets of the world. We are pleased that Kathryn will be joining us to help broaden out our capabilities further.”
Kathryn Langridge said: “Jupiter has a growing reputation in the emerging markets space and a strong, investment-led culture. I am very much looking forward to working with such a respected team and helping grow assets through the launch of a global emerging markets fund.”
